Home Ministry to probe wrongdoings found in 2019 Auditor-General's Report

KAJANG: The Home Ministry will set up a task force to probe into the wrongdoings committed by its agencies mentioned in the 2019 Auditor-General's Report.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin said the procedure was a usual practice conducted by all ministries.

"We will look into the details and set-up a task force to see why these things occurred.

"Not only the police, but any agencies under the Ministry that had violated the rules, the secretary-general will take action," he said.

He said this after attending the 230th Prisons Day Celebration at the Prisons Department headquarters, here, today.

On Monday, the A-G's Report revealed that police had pay millions of ringgits in maintenance fees for inactive helicopters.

The report also said there was an overpayment for the replacement of photography spare parts used by the Criminal Investigations Department, amounting to RM2.7 million.

The audit conducted on a price quotation in Kluang Prison found elements of price-fixing that the company which took part and succeeded in one of the tender for food supply quotation was found to be the same company making another bid based on its address and the Letter of Acceptance of Tender was received by the same individual.

As for the Prisons Department headquarters, a location inspection carried out on Aug 21, 2019, failed to locate three kiosk units worth RM18,000.
