GEORGE TOWN: A hiker was found unconscious along the Penang Hill hiking track here, early today.
The man was identified as Ooi Hock Eng, 51, from Sungai Ara in Bayan Lepas, based on documents found on his person.
The Paya Terubong Fire and Rescue Department was alerted to the discovery at about 6.39am.
Ooi was still alive when firefighters arrived at the scene.
"(But) when the paramedics checked on the man, they (declared that he had died).
"We then proceeded to take the remains down the hill," said operations officer Mohd Fadlan Mohd Fauzi.
The cause of death has not been ascertained.
