Covid-19: Sabah readies RM50mil funds to assist people

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah government has prepared an RM50 million immediate allocation to further assist the people affected by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Chief Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor, in a statement today, said of the allocated amount, RM10 million would be used to provide food baskets.

Such food baskets would be distributed to affected residents in four red zone districts that are currently under targetted enhanced movement control order (TEMCO).

The districts are Semporna, Tawau, Lahad Datu, and Kunak.

This was decided during a state cabinet meeting, chaired by Hajiji, earlier today, to discuss efforts to prevent the Covid-19 outbreak and assist affected people.

Hajiji also said the Sabah Covid-19 Command Centre is now aborted.

All Covid-19 related issues will now fall under the State Covid-19 Disaster Management Committee.

Hajiji noted the Committee would be chaired by the state secretary, while Sabah Health Director would take on the role of deputy chairman.

The Committee also involved participation of members from federal and state agencies.
