Malaysia records highest ever daily Covid-19 figure at 287

KUALA LUMPUR: At 287 new cases today, this is the highest daily figure since KUALA LUMPUR: At 287 new cases today, this is the highest daily figure since the novel coronavirus hit our shores earlier this year.

All 287 are local transmissions, with Kedah overtaking Sabah as the northern state records 129 new cases. Sabah meanwhile records 113 new cases.

In a press conference today, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 20 cases in the peninsular are linked to Sabah.

128 of the new positive cases in Kedah belong to the Tembok cluster, predominantly amongst prison officers and detainees.

Selangor has 31 new cases, Terengganu records three, Kelantan and Negri Sembilan both have two cases each while Johor, Kuala Lumpur, Pahang and Labuan records one new case each.

This brings the total number of cases in Malaysia to 11,771.

There are 1,540 active cases presently.

22 patients are being treated at intensive care units with four requiring breathing assistance.

No Covid-19 related fatalities were reported to the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) today, keeping the death toll at 136.
