KUALA LUMPUR: The National Unity Ministry has ordered all Tabika Perpaduan preschools and Taska Genius Perpaduan day-care centres in Johor Baru and Kulai in Johor to close for two weeks.
In a statement today, its minister, Datuk Halimah Mohamaed Sadique, said the closures, from Nov 1 to 14, follow the districts being declared Covid-19 red zones yesterday.
"The closures will affect 1,507 children and 124 teachers from 60 preschools and one day-care centre.
"We would like to remind all our unity machinery members in red zones to strictly adhere to standard operating procedures (SOP) and health protocols drawn by the Health Ministry, the National Security Council and the state government at all times.
"We would also like to advise all staff and the public to always adhere to the SOPs and practise the new normal, such as wearing face masks, observing physical distancing and keeping hands clean," she said.
