PUTRAJAYA: With 1,032 new cases as of noon today, there are now 35,425 cumulative cases in the country, with 10,339 being active cases.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said from the new cases, three were imported involving non-Malaysians who were infected from India, Singapore and Philippines respectively.
Dr Noor Hisham said Sabah, Labuan and the Klang Valley recorded 918 cases (89 per cent of the total cases), with 98 cases (9.5 per cent) are linked to prison clusters and temporary quarantine detention centre.
They include 34 cases at the Sandakan Prison cluster, Kepayan Prison cluster (24), Seberang Prai Prison cluster (16), Rumah Merah clsuter (11), Tembok cluster (8) and Benteng PK cluster (5).
Sabah logged 646 new cases, followed by Selangor (231), Negri Sembilan (44), Labuan (28), Kedah (25), Penang (23), Sarawak (9), Kuala Lumpur (7), Putrajaya (4), Terengganu (3), Kelantan (2), and Johor (1).
At the daily Covid-19 press conference here today, Dr Noor Hisham said 820 cases had recovered, bringing the tally of recovered cases to 24,815.
"Currently, 82 positive cases are receiving treatment at the intensive care unit, where 27 cases need ventilator support."
Sabah recorded highest number of recoveries with 472 cases, followed by Selangor (103), Negri Sembilan (71), Labuan (66), Penang (46), Kedah (21), Perak (21), Sarawak (14), Johor (3), Kelantan (2) and Melaka (1).
Meanwhile, eight new deaths were reported as of noon today, with seven in Sabah and one in Perak.
They include (case 17,745) a 83-year-old Malaysian man with a history of hypertension, diabetes and stroke, a 63-year-old Malaysian man who had chronic lung disease and a 79-year-old Malaysian man, who had hypertension, dyslipidaemia and kidney disease.
