Anugerah Bintang Popular BH can proceed, without live audience

KUALA LUMPUR: The Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian (ABPBH) ceremony is listed as among social activities permitted under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the event can proceed as long as standard operating procedures (SOP) to prevent the spread of Covid-19 are adhered to.

The ABPBH is set to take place tomorrow night.

"The show can go on without (a live) audience and additional event crew.

"Those involved in the show must wear face masks, and the number of event crew on the day must be at the minimum," he said.

Several social media users had raised concerns over the award show, which would see celebrities and event crew members, among others, gathering in an enclosed space.

Ismail Sabri said the event will be monitored by National Security Council representatives and the police.

"If there is any violation of the SOPs, the organisers will face action," he added.
