KUALA LUMPUR: All four new Covid-19 clusters detected as of noon today originated from Peninsular Malaysia.
Two clusters, namely the Kapas BJ and Prestij clusters, were detected in Klang Valley while the Bah Bercham and Kiambang clusters were in Perak and Johor respectively.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of active Covid-19 clusters in the country currently stands at 165.
"As of today, 54 active clusters clocked new case, with the top three clusters being Teratai cluster (245 cases), Penjara Sandakan cluster (215 cases) and Kapas BJ cluster (55 cases).
"The Kapas BJ cluster involves the Hulu Langat district in Selangor. The index case for this cluster (Case-29261) is a factory worker who tested positive for Covid-19 on Nov 18.
"As of Nov 19, 210 individuals have been screened, from which 76 positive cases have been identified," he said in a statement today.
Dr Noor Hisham said the Prestij cluster involved workers from a cleaning company in the Lembah Pantai and Titiwangsa districts in Kuala Lumpur.
"As of Nov 19, 37 individuals have been screened, with 20 positive cases detected," he said.
He said the Bah Bercham cluster involving the Kinta district in Perak logged five new cases after 137 individuals were screened today.
"The index case for this cluster (Case-45074) tested positive during a Covid-19 screening after the patient returned from a high-risk zone (Sabah) on Nov 13.
"All positive cases from this cluster have been admitted to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun, Perak," he said.
As for the Kiambang cluster in Johor, he said the cluster involved the Mersing, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru districts.
"The index cluster for this case (Case-48391) tested positive on Nov 16. As of today, 131 individuals have been screened, and nine positive cases identified.
"All patients have been admitted to Hospital Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom, Johor," he said.
Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham also announced that six clusters have ended today, namely Umboo, Bah Mutiara, Khazanah, Jalan Pantai, Bah Bangat and Bah Kasturi clusters.
