MASkargo staff quarantined following rise in numbers in Kaya cluster [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: More than 300 MAB Kargo Sdn Bhd (MASkargo) staff have been ordered to go under quarantine following an increase in cases linked to the Kaya cluster involving the company's staff at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision was made based on a risk evaluation conducted by the Health Ministry.

"Today's special cabinet meeting has agreed to implement the Cargo Workers Isolation Programme at KLIA, involving 360 MASkargo staff who are healthy, non-symptomatic, and have tested negative for Covid-19.

"This programme will be enforced for 14 days starting tomorrow, Nov 26, and will end on Dec 9," he told reporters.

Ismail Sabri said these workers would be placed at Tune Hotel at the KLIA Aeropolis with strict standard operating proceduresand monitoring by the Health Ministry, the National Security Council and police.

As of yesterday, the Kaya cluster has reported 900 cases, with 4,391 people linked to the cluster being screened.

Those who tested positive comprised 503 Malaysians and 397 foreign workers.
