King expresses gratitude to MPs for supporting 2021 Budget

KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah expressed his gratitude to Members of Parliament who voted in support of the 2021 Budget today.

He welcomed the support for the Budget, which he said would safeguard the health and prosperity of the people as well as aid the recovery of the economy, which has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Ahmad Fadli Shamsuddin, in a statement, said the King expressed his gratitude to MPs who heeded his advice on Oct 28 to support the Budget for the people's well-being, security and for the greater good.

"The 2021 Budget is extremely important to the government and the authorities, especially the frontliners, to continue and launch policies and efforts to contain as well as battle the threat of Covid-19.

"As the Head of State, Al-Sultan Abdullah has the utmost respect for each registered political party in the country. The King also appreciates the role and trust empowered to all members of the Dewan Rakyat in upholding the welfare of the people.

"As such the King appreciates the commitment, the spirit of consensus and spirit of togetherness shown by all to maintain the momentum of economic recovery for the well-being of all," he said.

The King also expressed his full confidence in the government's ability to helm the administration of the country in this time of crisis.
