Travellers from Sabah to Kelantan must undergo quarantine, swab tests

KOTA BARU: Travelers from Sabah who enter Kelantan are required to be quarantined for 14 days as well as undergo a Covid-19 swab test soon after.

Kelantan National Security Council director Jefny Muhammad said the decision was made during the council's meeting two days ago, chaired by Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob.

"In the meeting, we agreed that apart from the 14-day quarantine, travellers to Kelantan from Sabah must undergo swab tests soon after arriving here.

"They will be tested after their fifth day in quarantine.

"They will be sent directly to the quarantine centre upon arrival at the airport," he told reporters after attending the council's meeting here today.

Jefny said two quarantine centres have been established in the state for the purpose. They are the Education Technology Resource Sector in Pengkalan Chepa and Mara Higher Skills College in Pasir Mas.

He said a total of 121 travellers from Sabah are expected to arrive in Kelantan starting tomorrow, including teachers and police personnel.

"Two buses will be ready at the Sultan Ismail Petra airport in Pengkalan Chepa to send them to the quarantine centres.

"Those who arrive in Kelantan for official visits will be evaluated by health officers before deciding on whether they need to wear the green wristbands or not," he added.

Jefny said the move is taken as a precaution against the spread of Covid-19 in the state.
