CHUKAI: A total of 1,535 flood victims have been relocated to 13 temporary relief centres (PPS) in Terengganu, with Kemaman being the worst-hit district as of 6pm today.

There were 1,362 flood victims from 333 families from Kemaman at nine relief centres this evening, compared to 1,310 victims from 320 families recorded at 4pm today.

The evacuees are from the villages of Air Putih, Teladas, Felda Seberang Tayor, Pasir Gajah, Tebak and Ban Hoe.

Disaster Management Committee secretariat head Colonel Che Adam Abd Rahman said all PPS in the district are in operation, including two which had just opened in Pasir Gajah and the Kampung Ban Hoe surau.

The other PPS are Dewan Sivik Kampung Air Putih; Balai Raya Kampung Teladas; Dewan Serbaguna Kampung Felda Seberang Tayor; Masjid Kampung Batu 16; Masjid Batu 14 in Kampung Tebak; Dewan Orang Ramai Batu 14; and Surau Haji Othman.

However, Che Adam said the number of flood evacuees in Dungun has decreased to 159 people from 41 families, compared to 344 victims from 100 families recorded earlier in the day.

"All the victims were placed at three temporary relief centres, namely Dewan Serbaguna Pasir Raja (71), Dewan Serbaguna Kampung Shukor (65), and Dewan Serbaguna Kampung Minda (23)," he said.

Che Adam added that in Marang district, the number of victims remain at only 14 people from five families. They are currently taking shelter at the SK Merchang PPS.
