Ismail Sabri: EMCO for Kg Sabah Baru in Lahad Datu ended

KUALA LUMPUR: The Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) at Kampung Sabah Baru in Lahad Datu ends today as scheduled.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision to end the EMCO there comes after 28 days of it being implemented.

He said a total of 2,054 people were screened there, adding that 382 had tested positive for Covid-19.

"Today, on the Health Ministry's recommendation, the EMCO in the area has been lifted, as scheduled," he said in a statement.

A surge in Covid-19 cases in early November led the government to place Kampung Sabah Baru under a two-week EMCO from Nov 10. The EMCO was extended for another two weeks following the Health Ministry's advice on Nov 22.
