Tun Rahah dies

KUALA LUMPUR: Condolences are pouring in following the death of Tun Rahah Mohamed Noah, who was wife of Malaysia's second prime minister.

She was 87.

Her son, former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak confirmed Rahah's death on his social media platforms.

"My mother is gone. Our family is at the hospital.

"Sadness and tears are flowing. There are no words for this loss."

Najib also changed his Facebook cover photo to one of him kissing the hands of his mother.

Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa shared this in a tweet at 4.55pm today.

"Innalillahi wainna ilaihi rojiun, with deep sadness, Tun Rahah Mohamed Noah has returned to the Creator just a while ago.

"May Allah grant strength and patience to the family and may Allah SWT bless her soul."

Yesterday, Najib in a tweet had informed that his mother was not well, and that it was a difficult and worrying period for him and his family.

"Mother is not well. I urge all of you to pray that mother is granted strength and recovers," he had said.

The widow of Malaysia's second Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, was warded at Prince Court Medical Centre, here.

Rahah married Razak on Sept 4, 1952, and the couple have five sons, Najib, Mohamed Nazir, Datuk Ahmad Johari, Datuk Mohamed Nizam, and Datuk Mohamed Nazim.

Rahah was also the sister-in-law of Malaysia's third prime minister, Tun Hussein Onn.

Politicians from both sides of the political divide, including Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had also been visiting Rahah's family in recent days.
