MCO 2.0: More detailed SOP to be announced tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will announce a more detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) at 5pm tomorrow for the various movement control measures announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today.

In a statement today, Ismail Sabri said the Education Ministry, the International Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) and the Works Ministry would also be announcing their respective SOPs tomorrow.

Meanwhile, he said the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) at four localities will end as scheduled today (Jan 11).

These localities include Madrasah Daril Naim in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, the Kampung Paginatan and Kampung Maringkan localities in Ranau, Sabah, as well as the Kamunting Correctional Detention Centre (KEMTA) and its staff quarters in Taiping, Perak.

Ismail Sabri aid the Health Ministry has conducted 152 screenings at the Madrasah Daril Naim locality and 78 positive cases have been logged so far.

"However, the ministry confirmed that the active cases at the madrasah have been declining and there are no more samples awaiting results.

"The ministry has also conducted 424 screenings at Kampung Paginatan and of the total, 45 positive cases have been recorded.

"In Kampung Maringkan, 23 cases have been detected out of the 166 screenings conducted.

"However, the ministry has confirmed that active cases in both localities are under control and recorded a downward trend," he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said there are 356 samples involving detainees at KEMTA's Pusat Transit Penerimaan (PTP) which have yet to receive their results.

However, he said, this does not involve the old detainees and the quarters' staff.

"So far, the ministry has conducted 670 screenings and of the total, 55 Covid-19 positive cases have been recorded.

"Based on the ministry's risk assessment, the EMCO at KEMTA and its staff quarters will end as scheduled on Jan 12. However, the OKT blocks at the PTP which involves Blok Gemilang, Blok Harapan, Blok Jaya dan Blok Abadi (PKRC) will remain under EMCO until Jan 26," he said.
