Selangor, Johor, Sabah lead the way in new Covid-19 infections

KUALA LUMPUR: The country logged 3,211 new Covid-19 cases as of noon today, with Selangor, Johor and Sabah accounting for the highest number of infections reported today.

The country's cumulative active cases currently stands at 151,066 cases.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said only five of the new cases were imported and the rest (3,206) cases were local transmissions.

Penang clocked 194 new cases, followed by Kedah (142 cases), Terengganu (92 cases), Kelantan (79 cases), Perak (74 cases), Negri Sembilan (70 cases), Pahang (70 cases), Sarawak (60 cases) and Melaka (58 cases).

Perlis reported no new infections today. Hulu Terengganu remained the only green zone in the Peninsula.

Another eight deaths were also reported today, raising the total number of Covid-19 fatalities in the country to 586.

Meanwhile, 204 Covid-19 patients are currently being treated in the Intensive Care Units, including 87 who had been placed on respiratory support.

Dr Noor Hisham also said a total of 1,710 patients had been discharged as of

noon today.
