Two Sabah assistant ministers discharged from Covid-19 treatment centres

KOTA KINABALU: Two Sabah assistant ministers who were reported to be infected with Covid-19 have been discharged from the low-risk treatment centre (PKRC).

State Assistant Public Works minister Datuk Robert Tawik was allowed to go home yesterday.

Robert, who is also Bingkor assemblyman, was admitted at Keningau hospital when he was tested positive on Jan 8 before he was transferred to PKRC at Keningau Sports Complex.

He extended his gratitude to the healthcare personnel at the district hospital and the centre.

After his discharge, Robert went to visit flooded villages at his constituency following non stop rain yesterday.

Meanwhile, state Assistant Agriculture and Fisheries minister Hendrus Anding was discharged from PKRC in Kota Belud last Friday.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Tandek assemblyman also thanked the Health Ministry staff for taking good care of him.

"I have been given instruction from the Health Ministry to be discharged from the Health Ministry from Kota Belud PKRC on Jan 15.

"I would also like to thank friends and the people especially in Tandek for giving supportive words and prayers throughout my quarantine period," he said.

Last week, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan and his wife Datin Cecilia Kitingan, both infected with Covid-19, were also discharged after being admitted for two weeks at Queen Elizabeth hospital.
