PRAI: The power cable at Km3.2 on the Penang Bridge caught fire again this morning.
The Prai Fire and Rescue Department was alerted to the incident at 9.17am.
Its operations officer Khairi Abu Bakar said when firemen arrived at the scene, they found the power cable below the bridge was on fire.
"We managed to put out the fire with the help of other agencies.
"Fortunately, there were no casualties," he said.
This is the second fire in less than 24 hours.
Just before the evening peak hour yesterday, a power cable caught fire on the Penang Bridge, causing massive traffic jams on both sides of the bridge that stretched several kilometers.
Black smoke was seen billowing at the stretch where the cable was located under the bridge at Km3.3.
Several video footages and photos of the incident have since found its way to social media.
