SPM candidates reminded to follow SOP

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry (MoH) has reminded all candidates sitting for public examinations to strictly follow guidelines under the new normal.

In a statement, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said MoH with the cooperation with the Education Ministry and school administrators will take the necessary steps to ensure candidates will be sitting for their examinations in a safe and healthy condition.

He said candidates must confirm that they are healthy without showing any symptoms such as fever, cough, flu, sore throat or breathing difficulties when present at the examination hall.

For that purpose, he said, candidates would be required to fill in a Covid-19 screening declaration form everyday to declare their health status.

Dr Noor Hisham also said parents should always monitor the health of their children and inform the schools should their children develop any symptoms.

"Covid-19 prevention measures should always be practiced at the examination hall, such as wearing facemasks, hand washing or hand sanitising, not sharing stationeries with friends and observing physical distancing.

"These measures must be practiced before, during and after the examinations," he said.

He also advised candidates to limit their movements to avoid contact with others during the examination period to reduce the possibility of being infected.

The 2020 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) started on Feb 22 and is expected to end Mar 25.
