72 sanitation operations conducted at various locations nationwide

KUALA LUMPUR: The Housing and Local Government Ministry conducted 72 sanitation operations at various locations nationwide, yesterday.

In a statement today, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the sanitation operation was conducted at 25 red zones, three orange zones, 14 yellow zones and three green zones.

"Yesterday's operation brought the number to a total of 20,494 public sanitation operations conducted at 154 zones since March 30, 2020, nationwide.

"This operation involved over 345 officers from the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) and 216 enforcement officers from local authorities, to which a total of 67 JPBM machinery were used to conduct the operations.

"The sanitation operation involved business centres, housing areas including Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR), public places, supermarkets and government buildings," he said.

Meanwhile, the country recorded over 650 overseas returnees who arrived via international entry points yesterday.

"They are currently undergoing mandatory quarantine at designated centres nationwide.

"As of today, cumulatively, we have recorded a total of 167,299 people who have entered the country since July 24, 2020.

"This brings the current number of returnees undergoing quarantine to 7,493. Meanwhile, 158,504 individuals out of the cumulative total of returnees have been allowed to go home, and 1,302 were brought to hospitals for treatment," he said.
