15-year-old under stress injured in leap from school building

KUALA SELANGOR: A 15-year-old student believed to be suffering from stress leapt from the third floor of her school building Wednesday morning, sustaining serious injuries.

The student was said to be struggling with her studies.

District police chief Superintendent Ramli Kasa said preliminary investigations showed there was no foul play involved.

"Initial investigations revealed the girl had been suffering from stress before she decided to jump off the building. She broke her leg and fractured her spine due to the fall," he said.

Ramli said she received emergency treatment at the district hospital for the broken leg, but had to be transferred to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for the spinal trauma.

"The case is being investigated under Section 309 of the Penal Code for attempted suicide," he said.
