Raub placed under CMCO from tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: Pahang's Raub district will be placed under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) while its sub-districts Gali and Tras will come under the Movement Control Order (MCO) for 14-days from tomorrow (Friday) onwards.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said this was due to a surge in Covid-19 active cases within nine days in the areas, which resulted in 83 positive cases, according to Health Ministry.

They involve Raub, Sungai Ruan and Kampung Baru Sempalit in the Gali sub-district; while in the Tras sub-district the affected areas are Kampung Sang Lee, Kampung Baru Tras and Kampung Sungai Cheetang.

"The ministry also confirmed that the Raub Jaya Cluster has spread due to social activities, with the transmissions detected among school students.

"The imposition of the CMCO and MCO in the district and the sub-districts are to ensure that the movements of residents are controlled to deter the Covid-19 virus from spreading to other areas," he said in a statement today.

Ismail Sabri said a locality in Temerloh would be placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) from tomorrow. It involves Taman Seri Desa in Kuala Krau which registered 11 positive Covid-19 cases out of 117 people screened so far.

The Senior Defence Minister said the ministry also confirmed that the virus was yet to be contained in the locality and the infectivity rate was high.

"The EMCO is meant to reduce people's movement and communications within the community, in order to break the infection chain. It is also to ease early detection efforts for risky cases in the surrounding area," he said.

Ismail Sabri said the decision to enforce the CMCO, MCO and EMCO at all the localities, which will end on May 13, came following a risk assessment with various agencies in the MCO Technical Committee and on the advice of the Health Ministry.
