Sarawak allows Aidilfitri visits in CMCO zones

KUCHING: Sarawak will only allow Aidilfitri visits in Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) areas during the first seven days of Syawal.

The Sarawak Islamic Council said this was only allowed among close family members, with the number of people limited to only half capacity of the home.

The 'takbir' for Hari Raya Aidilfitri is allowed at all mosques and surau, starting from maghrib until 10pm on the night before Aidilfitri.

The 'takbir' is also allowed to be conducted between Subuh prayers and the solat sunat Aidilfitri on the morning of Hari Raya.

The solat sunat Aidilfitri will be allowed to be performed at mosques, surau, musolla and premises which obtained permission from the council.

"The (number of) congregation will be based on a (premises) capacity, while adhering to the 1m physical distancing."

It said visiting graves was not encouraged, but if it could not be avoided, Muslims must adhere to the guidelines on such activities issued by the council on April 8.

Among the guidelines was physical distancing, using face masks, avoid shaking hands, a 20-minute limit to each visit and only allowing five close family members to visit a grave.

Feasts after the solat sunat Aidilfitri at mosques or surau, house-to-house 'takbir' events, open houses and any form of tahlil at mosques or surau are not allowed.

The council said Aidilfitri celebrations will also not be allowed in Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) areas.
