AstraZeneca vaccine: Just show your appointment notification at roadblocks

KUALA LUMPUR: Recipients of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine only need to show the appointment notification sent via the MySejahtera app to enforcement personnel at roadblocks when going to designated vaccination centres (PPV).

National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said there were currently 60,000 people on the waiting list for the AstraZeneca under the opt-in programme.

"Meanwhile, a total 19,718 AstraZeneca doses have been administered within six days since it was first given to volunteers on May 5.

"Those on the waiting list who have received the notification are only required to go to the PPV once they receive a phone call from the officer (of the PPV). We do not allow walk-in, so do not come if you have not received any call," said the Science, Technology and Innovation minister at a Press conference via Zoom today.

He said PPV staff would make calls in stages to fill the vacancy left by those who were unable to turn up for the AstraZeneca vaccine appointment.

In the event recipients fail to turn up at the PPV, those in the waiting list would be called to prevent wastage as the opened vaccine vials could no longer be stored.

"Those on the waiting list but are unable to go to the PPV after being called should not panic as their names are still under the programme," he said.

Khairy said a total 9,983,396 or 41.2 per cent of the population ratio of individuals aged 18 and above have registered for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

Of the total, 1,859,426 appointments were made, with 1,105,033 people having received the first vaccine dose and 681,426 completing the two doses, he said.

A total 1,938,660 doses have been delivered so far, he said.
