BACHOK: The body of a man and his four-year-old son who went missing after riding a jet ski at Kampung Pengkalan Baru here on Friday, were discovered separately yesterday.
The body of Firas Naufal Mohd Zamizi was found about 9.12am near the area he was reported missing while the body of his 37-year-old father Mohd Zamizi Hashim was located at 10.35pm about 50 metres from Naufal's body.
Bachok Fire and Rescue Department chief Yus Heary Mahmud said the two bodies were found by search-and-rescue teams who comprised of firemen, police and villagers.
He added that the bodies were later handed over to the police.
District police chief Superintendent Mohamad Ismail Jamaluddin said the bodies were sent to Raja Perempuan Zainab II hospital for post-mortem.
The father and son were on a jet ski in a river in Kampung Pengkalan Baru when the incident occurred about 4.30pm on Friday.
According to a close family member, the father of three, Mohd Zamizi had just bought the jet ski and was taking a joyride with his youngest son when tragedy struck.
Mohd Zamizi's family members were watching the two about several metres away but could not save them when they fell off the machine due to the strong current.
