KUALA LUMPUR: Seven workplace-linked clusters are among 19 Covid-19 clusters that emerged in the last 24 hours, which also include five religious, four community and three education clusters.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the number of active clusters in the country currently stands at 497.
The workplace-linked clusters are the Jalan Petaling Industri (seven cases) and the Jalan Besi Satu (12 cases) clusters in Johor Bahru; the Utarid Sembilan Belas cluster in Petaling, Selangor (12 cases); the Jalan Kampung Taib cluster in Hulu Selangor district (14 cases); the Bayan Lepas Innoplex cluster involving several districts in Penang (11 cases); the Dah Helang cluster in Langkawi (30 cases) and the Dah Arked cluster in Baling, Kedah (24 cases).
The four religious clusters are the Jalan Helang Siput cluster in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur (nine cases); the Kampung Kemuning cluster in Alor Gajah, Melaka (24 cases); the Jalan Batu Dua cluster in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan (45 cases) and the Banggol cluster in Setiu, Terengganu (22 cases).
Meanwhile, the Jalan Sri Putri Empat cluster involving Kulai and Pontian districts in Johor (20 cases); the Jalan Lima Belas cluster involving several districts in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor (12 cases) and the Gong Badak cluster involving the Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu and Besut districts in Terengganu (36 cases), made up the education clusters.
Two of the four community clusters originated from Sarawak, namely the Hulu Spaoh cluster involving Betong and Samarahan districts (20 cases) and the Jelang cluster involving Betong district (22 cases).
The remaining two community clusters are the Seri Sutra cluster in Kinta, Perak (16 cases) and the Jambu Bongkok cluster involving Marang and Dungun districts in Terengganu (18 cases).
In its weekly update on the Covid-19 clusters, the Health Ministry also reported that active clusters rose from 429 in epidemiology week 18 to 466 in epidemiology week 19 (8.6 per cent increase).
No detention centre clusters were identified last week.
However, the ministry identified 11 new religious clusters and three high-risk group clusters last week.
