4 PPVs in KL closed, replaced with 2 larger centres

KUALA LUMPUR: The Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) today announced the closure of four vaccination centres (PPV) in Kuala Lumpur, which will be replaced with two premises that can accommodate larger number of people at any given time.

Coordinating Minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) Khairy Jamaluddin said the PPV at Titiwangsa Stadium and Manjalara Komuniti Hall would be replaced with a new PPV at the conference of the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Jalan Duta here that would commence operation starting May 31.

Khairy, who is also the Science, Technology and Innovation Minister (Mosti), said the change would affect those who would be inoculated at the PPV in Titiwangsa Stadium and Manjalara Komuniti Hall from May 31 until June 6.

"We will inform those affected by the change (whose appointment was supposedly at Titiwangsa Stadium and Manjalara Komuniti Hall from May 31 until June 6).

"They will receive with details of the new appointments and location, which is at MITEC," he told a weekly press conference by the CITF today.

Present was Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.

The two other PPVs that will be closed are the Desa Tasik Sports Complex and Kompleks Komuniti Muhibah.

These two premises, Khairy said, will be replaced by the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil, which will commence operation beginning June 7.

"All appointments for vaccination referred to the Axiata Arena will involved new appointments under the PPV," said Khairy.

The change, he said, was made after taking into consideration the congestion in the number of people who would be vaccinated at the four PPVs.

"The changes were made to ensure a more comfortable and better treatment to the people especially senior citizen as well as people with disabilities," he said.
