Five flood relief centres in Kelantan closed, two more still open as situation improves slightly

KOTA BARU: Five relief centres in Kelantan were closed after the flood situation in the state improved slightly today.

The five centres which were closed were SK Dalam Rhu, SK Jelawat, SK Sungai Petai, SMK Beris Panchor and Dewan Kompleks Kamil

However, two other flood relief centres were still open tonight.

The two were SK Wakaf Raja and SK Tok Deh, with 62 victims from 14 families still taking shelter there.

At SK Tok Deh in Rantau Panjang, a total of 32 flood victims from seven families are being housed there while 30 victims from seven families at being housed at SK Wakaf Raja in Pasir Puteh.

Meanwhile, only the Golok river in Rantau Panjang remained above its danger level as of 7.30pm tonight.

The river level was measured at 9.18m which is 0.18m above its danger mark of 9m.

Other main rivers in Kelantan, however, recorded below the alert marks.

The overflow of the Golok river resulted in several villages located along the river to be inundated by flood.

The villages includes Kampung Terusan, Kampung Lanchang and Kampung Tok Deh, which were inundated by about 0.5m of floodwater.
