Special Discussion of the Malay Rulers still ongoing after over 2 hours

KUALA LUMPUR: The Special Discussion of the Malay Rulers with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Mustafa Billah Shah at Istana Negara is still ongoing after more than two hours.

At 5.17pm, the vehicle carrying Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, was seen leaving the palace's compound.

However, Berita Harian was told that the special discussion is still in progress.

The palace is expected to issue a statement on the special discussion later today.

Also present for the discussion today was Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, Sultan of Terengganu Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, Sultan of Kedah Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah and Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.

Today's Special Discussion of the Malay Rulers is the second since the country was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. The first was held on Oct 25 last year.

It was reported that the Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali was scheduled to have led several heads of government agencies to brief the Special Discussion.

Aside from Zuki, Attorney-General Tan Sri Idrus Harun and Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah are also providing briefings to the meeting.

The special discussion will also include several experts from government agencies, who are scheduled to brief the Rulers on matters pertaining to health, security, politics and the national economy.
