103 succumb to Covid-19; Klang Valley accounts for 61 fatalities

KUALA LUMPUR: Another 103 individuals succumbed to Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, with Klang Valley accounting for 61 deaths.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country's Covid-19 death toll currently stands at 5,677.

The oldest victim was a 100-year-old woman with high blood pressure who passed away at Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Baru.

Fifteen of the victims also had no medical history of chronic ailments.

Selangor reported the highest number of fatalities (43 deaths) while Kuala Lumpur recorded 18 deaths today.

Meanwhile, 943 patients are currently receiving treatment at Intensive Care Units (ICU), including 450 who have been intubated.

Dr Noor Hisham also said that 4,797 individuals have recovered from Covid-19 infections as of noon today.

The country's recovery rate, he added, currently stands at 90.2 per cent.
