Health Minister and Klang MP visit Klang Hospital

KLANG: Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba and Klang parliamentarian Charles Anthony Santiago yesterday paid a surprise visit to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) emergency and trauma department.

HTAR director Dr Zulkarnain Mohd Rawi said the visit from 7:45pm to 9pm, was a promise by Dr Adham to Charles to monitor the situation at HTAR.

"The Health Minister had informed the Special Parliament Sitting that he would be visiting the hospital with the Klang Member of Parliament.

"He kept his promise with the surprise visit yesterday. During the visit, several matters were discussed including launching a plan to manage Covid-19 patients here," he said when contacted.

Dr Zulkarnain said they also discussed a plan to construct a field hospital at the parking lot near the HTAR emergency department.

"Mercy Malaysia will be managing the field hospital," he said, adding that Charles had also expressed his commitment to assist in the transportation of asymptomatic patients around Klang to HTAR.

"It was understood that aid from the Klang parliamentarian is to address the lack of ambulances in HTAR at this time.

"The effort will allow immediate treatment to be given to patients brought in by them.

"HTAR will hold further discussions with Charles because they need to be prepared in terms of human resources to operate the vehicle, and the team also needs to be on standby 24 hours and provide complete information on the location and so on," he said.

Dr Zulkarnain said Dr Adham also visited the Children's Specialist Hospital (HPKK) Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) which will admit Covid-19 patients.

"Covid-19 patients in category three to five at HTAR will be transferred to HPKK UKM as soon as they start operating," he said.
