Nine more localities in Sabah, Pahang to go under EMCO

KUALA LUMPUR: Seven localities in Sabah and two in Pahang will be placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Senior Foreign Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said the decision was made after looking at the risk assessment and the infection trend of the virus in these areas presented by the Health Ministry.

In Kota Kinabalu, the areas affected are: Lorong Kuala Laut Likas, Kampung Warisan, Kampung Darau in Menggatal, Kampung Rakyat Baru and the Imbas Jaya workers' quarters on Jalan Kionsom. The EMCO in these areas would be from Aug 2 to Aug 14.

In Beaufort, the EMCO would kick off on Aug 2 until Aug 15 for Kampung Melulugus and Lorong 3 in Kampung Kilas Baru.

The same duration applies for two areas in Pahang - Bandar Melati and Ladang Senang.

Hishammuddin said the existing EMCO standard operating procedures (SOP) would be enforced in the affected areas.

Meanwhile, he said the EMCO for Pos Iskandar, Bera, Pahang, and Kampung Tinusa 2, Sandakan, Sabah, that was scheduled to end tomorrow (Aug 1), will be extended until Aug 15.

Meanwhile, EMCO in 14 localities will be lifted as scheduled tomorrow. Involving five areas in Sabah, four in Negri Sembilan, Kedah (three), Sarawak and Pahang (one each).

In Sabah, the areas are Seri Maju Apartment, Kota Kinabalu, Kampung Simpangan, Kota Marudu, QL Farm Breeder, Jalan Stesen TV and Onika Kuari worker's quarters in Tawau, and Taman Zia, Bingkul, Beaufort.

In Negri Sembilan, the areas are Taman Chembong Utama, Taman Chembong Jaya, Taman Sedia Raja and Taman KSNS in Rembau district.

Meanwhile In Kedah, the areas are Taman Bandar Sg Lalang, Taman Lembah Permai and Bakar Arang industrial area including Taman Cahaya PKNK, in Kuala Muda.

In Sarawak, the areas are Kampung Emperoh Nyiru Grait, Kuching.Pahang: Kuala Medang, Lipis.
