Some 82,000 devices distributed under Cerdik initiative until July 25

KUALA LUMPUR: Close to 82,000 devices have been distributed to students from 618 schools nationwide as of July 25, 2021, under the CERDIK initiative.

Meanwhile, district education offices (PPD) nationwide are in the midst of processing almost 5,000 devices that will be distributed in the near future.

CERDIK is a government-linked company (GLC) and government-linked investment company (GLIC) corporate responsibility initiative to provide digital access to students from lower-income families by equipping them with laptops, tablets and data plans.

Each device is equipped with digital protection and comes with technical support and an internet connection.

The programme is part of a long-term initiative that aims to provide students with digital access to education through access to devices and data connectivity.

The distribution status of the devices under the CERDIK initiative is constantly updated and can be viewed on the CERDIK initiative website, https://www.cerdik.org/en/deployment-tracker/.

Despite a challenging supply environment and movement restrictions under various Movement Control Orders (MCO), CERDIK's secretariat, Yayasan Hasanah, as well as corporate donors comprising 28 GLCs/GLICs, are committed to completing the delivery of all 150,000 devices to PPDs by the end of September 2021.

CERDIK's coordination with the Education Ministry ensures that the devices are distributed to eligible recipients.

Companies that are interested in supporting the CERDIK initiative may contact the Hasanah Foundation secretariat at cerdik@hasanah.org.my.-- BERNAMA
