Muhyiddin to make announcement on political developments tomorrow? [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is expected to make an announcement tomorrow involving the present development on the country's political landscape.

The matter was confirmed by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) supreme council member Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Yusof here today.

"Insya-Allah (God Willing), there will be an announcement (by the Prime Minister) tomorrow.

"Whatever it is, let us just wait for tomorrow," he told reporters after leaving the Perikatan Nasional (PN) headquarters in Publika here.

Redzuan is Minister in the Prime Minister's Department and the Alor Gajah member of parliament.

He was asked to comment if there will be an announcement by Muhyiddin, who is Bersatu president, on the outcome of the meeting among the party's top leaders earlier today.

He did not elaborate if the announcement by Muhyiddin will be on the future of the PN government or his position as the prime minister.

Redzuan, however, said: "We had discussed the direction (of the country) and what will happen if the prime minister resigns."

He added that Muhyiddin had explored all options to resolve the health and economic crises brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

"However, we noticed that there were irresponsible quarters who tried to derail such an effort.

"They should instead help to ensure the success of the efforts that were introduced by the Prime Minister and PN government (to take the country out of the pandemic-induced crises)."

Redzuan then elaborated on these so-called irresponsible quarters.

"If their intention to withdraw support is for their own selfish interest without taking into consideration the interest of the people, then we have to find the best way to manage it.

"Now, it is up to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah) to ensure the country will be led by those who will continue to put the interest and wellbeing of the people (as priority)," he said.

Redzuan, however, said that Bersatu top leaders will adhere to the provisions as enshrined in the Federal Constitution.

The meeting, which is believed to have started at about 9am, was chaired by Muhyiddin.

Among other leaders spotted attending the meeting were Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, Indera Mahkota member of Parliament Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, who is also Pahang Bersatu chief, and Ampang MP Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin.
