Covid-19 cases fall below 15,000

KUALA LUMPUR: The number of Covid-19 cases recorded was at 14,345 new infections as of noon today.

The last time, the cases dipped below the 15,000 range was on July 27, when 14,516 infections were recorded nationwide.

On the cases today, Sarawak remained the state with the most number of cases at 3,611, followed by Johor at 1,598, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah via social media posting.

Selangor had reported 1,365 cases, followed by Sabah (1,255), Penang (1,170), Perak (1,090) and Kelantan (1,050).

States reporting case numbers in the hundreds are Kedah with 967 cases, Terengganu (804), Pahang (779), Kuala Lumpur (307), Melaka (162), and Negri Sembilan (125).

Perlis, Putrajaya logged the lowest cases at 51 and 11. Labuan reported nil infections, he said.

Dr Noor Hisham said the national Covid-19 tally is now 2,112,175.

Non intensive care unit (ICU) beds utilisation stood at 66 per cent while ICU beds are 74 per cent utilised.

"A total of 56.5 per cent of total population has completed their Covid-19 vaccinations while at least 67.4 per cent had received one dose.

"Another 78.8 per cent of adults have completed their vaccination while 93.3 per cent have received at least one dose," he said.
