Petrol stations, convenience shops, eateries may be allowed to open till midnight soon

KUALA LUMPUR: Petrol stations, convenience shops, restaurants and other eateries in all states, irrespective of which phase they are under the National Recovery Plan (NRP), may soon be allowed to operate from 6am until midnight daily.

However, this does not apply to premises operating in localities under Enhanced Movement Control Order.

Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said the decision over the operating hours was agreed to during the second meeting of the Covid-19 Quartet Ministers today.

"This proposal will be raised for approval during the Special Committee Covid-19 Pandemic Management chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob tomorrow.

"I would like to stress that it is important for the sectors to be allowed to resume operations and reopen safely as we gear towards endemic phase," he told reporters here today.
