Shangri-La Group ready to welcome back guests

KUALA LUMPUR: The Shangri-La Group's seven hotels in Malaysia are going the extra mile to provide its staycation guests with added confidence now that intrastate tourism has resumed for states that have transitioned to Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan.

The group in a statement today said as part of its "Shangri-La Cares" commitment, one of its key priorities was a fully-vaccinated guest-facing workforce.

"When guests next visit a Shangri-La hotel in Malaysia, they can travel with greater confidence, knowing that a fully vaccinated guest-facing team will be taking care of their needs," it said.

Additionally, should the unexpected happen during one's staycation, guests and their loved ones staying at the group's seven hotels in Malaysia can enjoy personal accident coverage at no additional charge from today.

The StaySurance Personal Accident Cover provides guests with end-to-end personal accident protection that starts even before they check into their hotel.

"Underwritten by AIG, guests will be covered from 6am or upon check-in, whichever is earlier, on their day of arrival until 7pm or upon check-out, whichever is later, on the day they are scheduled to check out of the hotel," the group said.

"Registered guests will be covered for any unexpected mishaps even when they are outside the hotel, enjoying local attractions and activities."

One of the key benefits of StaySurance, the group noted, is the daily hospital cash benefit of up to US$100 (RM419) per day should the insured guest be hospitalised due to having contracted infectious diseases, such as Covid-19, while on a staycation.

"The promise of a fully-vaccinated guest-facing workforce coupled with the introduction of the StaySurance Personal Accident Cover at no additional charge to guests, demonstrates our commitment to helping guests enjoy their domestic holidays to the fullest during these extraordinary times."

The group also said that its guest-facing teams at all Shangri-La and Traders hotels in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Sabah are fully-vaccinated or have completed their two-dose vaccination regime.

"JEN Penang Georgetown by Shangri-La will follow suit by mid-October owing to vaccination schedules.

"We are heartened to note that 80 per cent of the adult population in Malaysia have been fully-vaccinated and the various states are making headway under the National Recovery Plan," Shangri-La Group in Southeast Asia and Australasia regional chief executive officer Chan Kong Leong said.

"We anticipate more residents to indulge in staycations again in the days ahead and we want to further demonstrate our Shangri-La Cares commitment to our local guests and thank them for their continued support.

"Besides elevated cleaning and hygiene protocols and a fully-vaccinated guest-facing workforce, the StaySurance Personal Accident Cover enables us to support our guests in their time of need, should the unexpected happen during their staycation."
