KOTA KINABALU: Sabah will be implementing the six zoning system in the state after the adult population vaccination rate has reached 60 per cent.
State Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said he had discussions with the state Health director Dr Rose Nani Mudin to impose the relaxation in stages.
"People within a zone can move freely, except those from districts that have yet to achieve a 60 percent adult vaccination rate.
"I have also proposed for inter-district travel when the vaccination rate achieves at least 70 per cent," he said in his winding speech at the 16th State Assembly Sitting here.
Masidi, who is also state Local Government and Housing minister, added the state daily vaccination rate could be higher than the official updates.
The National Statistics Department stated 2,758,400 adult population in Sabah was vaccinated, however, some of them were those who had moved and received vaccines in other states.
Despite the indicators of Covid-19 cases showing a downtrend, Masidi warned the people not to be complacent with the Covid-19 pandemic as it was difficult to predict the outcome in future.
Citing the situation in Sarawak, he said the state has a good vaccination rate but the cases are going up.
Replying to Datuk Christina Liew (PKR-Api-Api), as of Sept 22, Masidi said there were 35 quarantine centres with 4,604 beds with usage rate at 53.13 per cent.
"Due to the critical situation in Sabah before this, several measures were taken to ensure existing resources were optimised by allowing those in Categories 1 and 2 to undergo Home Surveillance Orders (HSO) under the watch of the Home Monitoring Call Centre and MySejahtera.
"For patients who do not fit the HSO criteria such as senior citizens, babies, high-risk pregnant women, patients with comorbidities, or those with an unconducive house environment, they will be admitted to the quarantine centres."
