MoE satisfied with ventilation systems in schools

TANJUNG MALIM: The Education Ministry is satisfied with the ventilation systems in schools nationwide, said its deputy minister Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon.

He said all schools were checked to ensure they were properly ventilated in anticipation of schools reopening next month.

"Schools nationwide are being checked and we are satisfied. There is no issue so far.

"We are going around (the country) and so far so good. However we still have to monitor it very closely," he told reporters after visiting the public vaccination centre for teenagers at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Proton City here, today.

Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin had announced that schools would reopen in stages starting October.

It was reported on Sept 12 that schools have also been instructed to ensure good air circulation inside the classrooms, including removing curtains for now to improve air circulation.

Dr Mah also said classrooms which have air conditioners are advised to set the temperatures to an adequate level.

"We advised (schools) to use a temperature that is not too cold.

"The temperature should be kept at between 23 and 26 degrees Celsius," he said, adding that proper ventilation is also of paramount importance.

On the programme at the school, Dr Mah said a total 127 students would be getting their first dose today.
