RM25m fund under Yayasan Keluarga Malaysia to care for Covid-19 orphaned children

KUALA LUMPUR: A RM25 million fund will be set up under the Yayasan Keluarga Malaysia, to provide care for children orphaned after their parents succumbed to Covid-19.

Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said some 4,700 children in Malaysia whose parents died due to Covid-19 would be taken care of in the spirit of the Malaysian Family concept.

"The allocation would be used to safeguard their welfare and education," he said in tabling the 2022 Budget in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Tengku Zafrul said the 2022 Budget will be anchored by enhancing recovery, building resilience and driving renewal.

Meanwhile, he said the three main focuses of the budget will be prosperity for the people, resilient businesses; as well as a prosperous and sustainable economy.
