Water supply in affected areas in Selangor to be restored in stages

KUALA LUMPUR: Water from the Semenyih 2 Water Treatment Plant (WTP) will be re-supplied to consumers in the affected areas in stages with supply expected to be fully restored by 10pm today (Monday), according to Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) .

Air Selangor in a statement said that as of 7am today, Semenyih 2 WTP operations have started while the Sungai Langat WTP is fully operational and that the supply restoration process will be announced later.

"For Langat 2 WTP, the raw water pumping process has started. The supply recovery process will be announced later. As for the Cheras Batu 11 WTP, the process of cleaning the water treatment plant following the flood incident is underway."

The statement added that at this time, Air Selangor is unable to confirm as to when the Cheras Batu 11 WTP will be fully operational.

The utility informed that alternative assistance through water tanker trucks is still being provided in stages to the affected areas, giving priority to critical premises during this unscheduled water supply disruption period.

Air Selangor in a statement yesterday (Sunday) said it had to shut down the Semenyih 2 LRA due to the increase in water level entering the raw water pump house and as a result, water supply to 70 areas in Hulu Langat was affected.

Consumers can refer to Air Selangor's official communication channels such as the Air Selangor application (app), Facebook, Instagram and Twitter or call the Air Selangor Contact Centre at 15300.
