Narcotics top cop appointed new DIGP

KUALA LUMPUR: Federal Narcotics chief Datuk Razarudin Husain has been appointed the new Deputy Inspector-General Police, replacing Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim who retires this Saturday.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has consented to the appointment, which will take effect on Dec 26.

He said Razarudin will be replacing Mazlan who is leaving the force on compulsory retirement.

"We would like to thank Mazlan for all his hard work and sacrifices throughout his years serving in the police force.

"We also look forward to working with the new DIGP Razaruddin under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani," he said.

Hamzah said Razaruddin has vast experience in fighting crimes, especially in narcotics.

"He has a proven track record that makes him the best candidate for the position," he said at the appointment ceremony today. Acryl Sani was also present.

Prior to his appointment as the Federal Narcotics Chief, Razaruddin has held various posts including as Criminal Investigation Department Chief in Penang.
