KOTA BARU: A 17-year-old student and a mechanic were killed when the motorcycles they were riding on collided with each other here last night.
Pasir Mas district police chief Assistant Commissioner Nasaruddin Md Nasir said the incident happened at Kampung Pangkal Kala at about 11.30pm.
He said the victims were identified as tahfiz student Muhammad Amirul Hakim Abdullah and Mohd Aizat Abdul Ghani.
He said both motorcyclists who were not using crash helmets, suffered serious head and bodily injuries and died on the spot.
"The mechanic was travelling from Gelang Mas to Bunut Susu when his bike collided with the other motorcyclist coming from the opposite direction.
"Early investigations showed that both motorcyclist were speeding when the crash occurred," he added.
The two bodies were sent to the Pasir Mas Hospital for post-mortem.
