LIPIS: Two friends were killed after the motorcycle they were travelling on crashed into a concrete divider at Km57 of the Central Spine Road near here yesterday.
Mohd Mazuan Mat Zin, 44, and pillion rider Kisnawita Saad, 46, died at the scene in the 5.30pm mishap.
Lipis district police chief Superintendent Ismail Man said the duo were travelling on a Honda RS-X motorcycle from Kuala Krai, Kelantan towards Sungai Buloh, Selangor.
"Investigations showed the victims were returning to Selangor after spending their Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays in Kelantan.
"Mazuan is believed to have lost control of the motorcycle, resulting the machine crashing into the concrete divider.
"Both the victims were thrown off the motorcycle and were killed on the spot. Their remains were sent to Lipis Hospital," he said in a statement today.
Ismail said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and urged those who witnessed the incident to come forward to assist police investigation into the case.
