Travel advisory issued to East Coast-bound motorists from this weekend

KUALA LUMPUR: High traffic volume heading to the east is expected to increase during the Chinese New Year this weekend until the first week of next month.

ANIH Berhad, the concession company for Kuala Lumpur – Karak Expressway (KLK) and East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (LPT1), in a statement advised motorists to plan their journey carefully to avoid congestion.

Its head senior general manager Radzimah Mohd Radzi, said ANIH had started distributing travel time advisory together with 1,400 masks at toll plazas along KLK and LPT1 from Jan 25.

"Highway users who are planning to travel to Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan are encouraged to follow the advisory," she said in a statement today.

ANIH advised highway users leaving Klang Valley to Pahang and Terengganu to travel either between 5am and 9am or between 5pm and 8pm from Jan 29 to Jan 31.

Those heading to Kelantan from the Klang Valley are advised to travel between 11am and 2pm or between 7pm and 10pm for the same time.

ANIH also advised those going back Klang Valley from Pahang to start their trip between 6am and 10am or 7pm to 11pm starting Feb 2 to Feb 6.

Highway users from Terengganu heading to Kuala Lumpur are advised to travel between 8am and 11am or 8pm to 10pm, while those coming from Kelantan may travel between 6pm and 9pm or 11pm to midnight on the same dates.

Radzimah said ANIH also increased the frequency of cleaning and sanitation at all public facilities at R&Rs and laybys in line with the standard operating procedures set by the Health Ministry and National Security Council to curb the spread of Covid-19.
