Daily Covid-19 cases in Sabah dip below 3,000

KOTA KINABALU: Daily Covid-19 cases in Sabah fell below the 3,000 mark when it recorded 2,874 infections today.

State Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said despite the reduction of cases in the past few days, sporadic cases are still high and currently stood at 58.8 per cent.

"Backlog is still high and it will continue to affect daily statistics until all investigations are cleared.

"Based on the current situation and data collection purposes, all cases reported within five days will be considered by the Sabah Health Department as actual cases," he said in a statement.

Today, a new workplace cluster identified as Tolokoson Kem Dua In Tenom was recorded.

The cluster involved workers of the Sino Hydro Kem Dua Tolokoson.

The index case is a symptomatic 59-year-old foreigner, detected during a screening on Feb 19.

"Screening tests on close contacts among colleagues found another 137 of them testing positive.

"All of them have been isolated and given further treatment. As for asymptomatic contacts, they were told to quarantine," Masidi said, adding the infection was transmitted at the construction site.
