MACC: No misappropriation in Gunung Inas Musang King project

BALING: There is no element of misappropriation in the implementation of the Musang King durian plantation project in Gunung Inas, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said

Kedah MACC director Datuk Shaharom Nizam Abd Manap said the anti-graft agency had scrutinised all state executive council meeting minutes related to the project.

He said preliminary examinations of all documents related to the matter did not find any wrongdoing or misappropriation that could be acted on under MACC jurisdiction.

"However, we do not rule out the possibility of further investigations into the durian plantation project if we get new information.

"We have not received any official reports on the case. We took the initiative to start investigations, including visiting Wisma Darul Aman to obtain related documents," he told Berita Harian today.

On July 10, Kedah MACC initiated an investigation into the possibility of misappropriation that led to the massive flood in Baling on July 4.

MACC investigating officers visited flood sites and went to Wisma Darul Aman to obtain state executive council meeting minutes on the implementation of the durian plantation project.

Shaharom said MACC referred to the Baling disaster special investigation team report before arriving at the conclusion.

"The report is more comprehensive and we referred to the report to see if anything could be linked, but so far there is none.

"We will stop the investigation until we get new information. If there is any, we will restart investigations, but it has to be (matters that fall) under MACC's jurisdiction."
