King arrives for visit at PRABN for special briefing on floods

KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has arrived at the National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (PRABN) for a special briefing on the country's flood status.

Following the transition of the North-East monsoon, it was learnt that the visit was requested by His Majesty to see governmental agencies' preparedness and plans in facing the monsoon season.

A motorcade accompanied by traffic police with the vehicle ferrying the Yang di-Pertuan Agong entered PRABN grounds about 10.25am today.

The visit will also include a special briefing with the Drainage and Irrigation Department (JPS) and Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) on the country's latest weather developments.

Present during the visit were Environment and Water Minister (KASA) Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali, and KASA secretary-general Dr Zaini Ujang.

Khairy is also expected to brief His Majesty on the country's Covid-19 status and the ministry's readiness in facing the flood.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri is expected to have an audience with His Majesty later today.
