Firefighters rescue 10 stranded at waterfall in Batang Kali

KUALA LUMPUR: Firefighters are in the midst of rescuing 10 people trapped in a column of water at the Sungai Pinang waterfall in Batang Kali.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said the Kuala Kubu station received a distress call that six children and four adults had difficulty crossing over the river at 4.35pm.

"A team of seven firefighters were deployed to the scene and they have successfully crossed over the river to the victims.

"The victims are safe and unharmed. My men are in the process of moving the victims to safety.

"The victims were trapped earlier as the water was still flowing from upstream," he said.

Norazam said all 10 victims were successfully rescued at 8.21pm.

"They were not hurt and allowed to return home."
