Nothing to hide, says Tengku Zafrul on RM600 billion issue

KUALA LUMPUR: International Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said he has not been called up by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yet pertaining to the misappropriation of RM600 billion in public funds.

The former Finance Minister said should he be called, he would extend his full cooperation to the authorities.

"Media have asked about being called by MACC to give a statement regarding the RM600 billion issue.

"My answer is simple. There is nothing to hide," he said via Twitter today.

Tengku Zafrul was the first to break silence pertaining to the scandal following news reports yesterday.

Apart from him, New Straits Times reported that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who was then the prime minister, and then health minister Khairy Jamaluddin would be called up by MACC to facilitate the investigation involving the scandal.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had recently said Finance Ministry officials had confirmed that there was a serious breach of procedures in the handling of RM600 billion funds during Muhyiddin's administration.

Parti Amanah Negara mobilisation bureau director Sany Hamzan claimed to have gathered evidence, including documentation, of the misappropriation of funds.

He had also called for a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to be set up to look into the issue.
